I’m a little confused & wanted to ask fellow 30 something (and older) single dating folks what they’re experiences have been. I’m 34, never married, no kids, educated – own a home, car , have a good job & pay my bills every month. And I’m thankful to be able to, especially with the economy these days.
Regardless of that…..for the past year or so I’ve gone out on a lot of dates. Some from online, some in social situations where I meet people, etc. It seems I have no problems getting the 1st & 2nd & 3rd dates, but after that they disappear. No phone – no email – nothing. The dates are fun with lots of conversation, some flirting…nothing out of the ordinary. I don’t talk kids. I don’t talk marriage. I keep it light and fun – just getting to know you kind of topics.
My question is ladies & gentlemen out there in Yahoo land, do you find that the people you go out with to be flaky? They say they don’t want just to hook up. They say they are tired of being alone, but to me it seems a lot of guys are dating and don’t really want to. Why spend the money to go on an online dating site, for instance, when you don’t want to date? Why ask me out to dinner when you complain the restaurant you picked out costs too much? Why even agree to meet up with me than?
It’s like being in that movie “The 40 year old Virgin.” The guy would rather sit at home making egg salad with mayo from scratch than attending a baseball game or going to the movies..you know date stuff.
I don’t want to think it’s me or the type of guy I’m choosing, but if that’s the case, okay I’ll work on it. However, I’m going out with these guys for all different reasons – not only physical because there’s no future in that. I have a lot going for me & have been told I’m a catch. Am I missing something ???? Would love to read other people’s experiences or advice. (from the male or female perspective)
And yes, I know this isn’t describing every single man in America.
